The Retin-A Diaries
It’s been about three weeks since I started Retin-A, and my skin is slowly but surely acclimating. No more snake-like shedding! No more necessity of hiding my face under a paper bag! I still have a fair bit of flaking, but at least now it’s socially-acceptable, as opposed to “Ew…do you, like, have a disease?” This weekend, at the Total Beauty Blogger Summit, I had my skin analyzed using a super-duper fancy machine, and while I have some sun damage (damn you, Florida!), my skin is in the 99th percentile when it comes to wrinkles. I’m still waiting for the transformation, however—that moment when the first friend or stranger says: “Your skin! It looks amazing! What have you been doing?” Don’t let me down, Retin-A…

Retinoids are the best thing you can do for perfect skin(aside from sun protection). I’m an esthetician & I always get my big gun skincare from the derm. I’m personally partial to tazorac creme .05%, it’s insanely strong but you work up to it. I’ve been using various forms of prescription retinoids since I was in my teens & my derm says jokingly that I’ll never age! Don’t stop using it, but to find the right one for you, you may need to experiment a little.

Just read part 1 and forgot to add this tip(I’ve not been able to keep up on my favourite blogs lately – gone too much but getting back to normal!)
I would suggest a warm mist humidifier for your bedroom. This will help keep the air & your skin hydrated & help with the ickyness that the early stages of retinoids bring. Plus, it just helps the skin look really moist & supple.
