Vi Peel Facial Rejuvenation Peel
I just had something called a Vi Peel, and my face feels like it’s on fire and is going to fall off. Good times! It uses exfoliating phenol acids, vitamin C and Retin-A to slough off the top layer of skin in 3 -5 days, and is supposed to be good for all complexions, including African-American skin (which typically can’t tolerate peels without hyperpigmentation). The actual peel only took about five minutes, and I’ve been instructed to use the Post-Peel Towelettes tonight and tomorrow night to help accelerate peeling, and then to expect the oh-so-sexy snake action to begin on Friday. According to the literature, the peel will get rid of acne and acne scarring, brighten skin and increase collagen production…but right now all I can focus on is the fact that my skin looks like a tomato, smells like formaldehyde, and feels like it’s been sunburned and then scratched. (Note to self: Eyes on the prize, J.)

Jolie Nadine! Please stop overexfoliating your skin! I’m almost 30, have tried almost as many products as you, from low- to high-end, and also took the Retin-A route. Started doing AHA peels at 20, but the last I did was five years ago, since my skin was getting thin. I had acne and some fine lines. If you’re using Retin-A still, please don’t use much else to exfoliate:(
My permanent solution to annoying and regular breakouts? Ayurvedic treatment. I haven’t gotten a major pimple in a year since finishing my herbal medicine course last year and I follow a diet which restricts me from “heat-inducing foods,” like eggs, nuts, chilli, shrimp, etc. It works!
Rooibos tea is great for calming skin/ For products, do try Vichy Normaderm Nuit. I’ve been using that for 8 months now, great for our kind of fragile, acne-prone skin. I also use Jurlique Herbal Recovery Gel for anti-ageing. By the way, steer clear of the Avobenzone and Oxybenzone, as well as the Butyl M–whatsit in sunscreens. Dr. Leslie Baumann says it’s not good for sensitive skin and can cause break-outs. I like Clarins UV PLUS myself. Hope this helps.

I just got a VI Peel yesterday morning. And today my face feels and looks on fire. I’m told that I’m supposed to look tanned like I was at the beach. But this feels and looks like I spent 5 days at the beach with no SPF. It’s itchy as well. I feel like Samantha on Sex and the City. I woke up at 6:30am and I put prescription cortisone cream and the VI cream I was given to soothe my skin. I even took two advil. Right now, I’m uncomfortable. I’m told to use the retin A towelette again tonight before bed, but if it still feels irritated like this, I just might skip that part. They say you can resume your regular activities, but if I actually did, I’d be asked about my “sunburn” and be miserable from the discomfort. Anything to not heat up my face more is good.

Oh, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda…we need to talk! It makes me happy to know that somebody else in the world is going through the same simultaneous discomfort, itching, peeling and irritation as me. Let me tell you – it only gets worse. I met people for drinks yesterday and it was pure comedy: my chin was flaking off as I spoke, and I could see little bits of skin sticking off my cheeks out of the corner of my eye. I also didn’t use the towelettes on the second day, but I used them last night, feeling like I just want to get the damn thing over with. I used the Samantha/SATC comparison while describing it to my friends, as well. A little hydrocortisone cream and some advil has helped me, and before I go out, I wash my face and apply a LOT of moisturizer. And then I wait…(for the rest of my face to fall off.)

OMG! I was hoping you’d write again. When you say it gets worse, you just mean the peeling right? I’m hoping to God this redness and fire feeling isn’t going to get worse! By tomorrow I’m counting on the “sunburn” to dissipate drastically. I won’t even leave the house! I’m welcoming the peeling part. What does the new skin underneath look like? Is it red or back to your normal colored skin?
There is no way I’m using the towelette again. I’m just gonna dry it out and wait it out. Hey will you email me at amanda_haley@hotmail.com ?

Also, were you swollen or puffy the second day? I am!!!

I had the VI peel 5 days ago and I’m still concerned. My face turned purple in some areas, now it is dark brown. I have peeled almost every where, but the worse area is still peeling and it looks really red and raw. I am thinking about going to the DR. tomorrow.
My skin better look damn good in the end after all of this pain!!!!
June 21st, 2008 at 6:38 am
ok, the worst part of the VI peel for me was the fact I blew up like a red blowfish. (i think I’m allergic to Retin A). B/c it was my first peel ever, I just didn’t know what to expect, so psychologically, I was petrified not knowing what was happening and what the outcome was going to look like. Well, I’m thrilled to say, I had my peel 9 days ago and I just love the results!! I’m hooked and would do it again. My face is back to looking porcelain again with no makeup. The VI peel lifted my pigmention spots I developed over the years from sun or B.C. pills. They are gone after 1 peel. My skin also looks and feels tighter and smoother, especially under my eyes. I hope this lasts!!
Jaime, if the raw spots are slight, and sting a little when you apply cream, don’t worry, new skin will form over in a few days, will dry, and then fall off. I had one spot on my cheek that I may have picked at too soon, (4th day) and it turned slighty pink and raw. I was so upset, thinking I scarred my face, but it’s perfect now. You should be totally back to normal on day 7, maybe 8 in your case. Just don’t rub or pick at your skin.

I haven’t gotten a pimple in a year since finishing my herbal medicine course last year.
October 23rd, 2008 at 11:39 pm
Excellent! Finally, I have been able to find something other than “It’s virtually painless!” “A slight sloughing of the skin!”
Slight sloughing of the skin.. Mmm hmm. I’m on the 3rd evening and I look like lizard woman. And yes folks, it does indeed burn.
The day that I did the peel I went to hug my bf who was on the computer. He got a weird look on his face, sniffed the air and exclaimed.. “It smells like my work! Is there Phenol in that peel!?”.. The funny thing about this is that my boyfriend is an Embalmer. Great.. I smell like a funeral home.
And I agree, I don’t look like I have a Malibu barbie tan at the moment.. I look more like Radiation poison rita. I feel like ramming my head face first into a bag of ice.
I have heard nothing but good things about the outcome of this peel so I’m going to smile and make the best of it.. while the boyfriend walks by pointing at me and singing “One two Freddy’s coming for you..”
Thanks babe, you’re so supportive, I really appreciate that.

thank goodness for this website and a glass of wine to calm my nerves. “I look more like Radiation poison rita. I feel like ramming my head face first into a bag of ice.” so true. i’ve had a few vi peels, but this time it’s different. i think maybe i had a little sun irritation going into it. this might be better left to the dark days of winter. i had to wash the chemicals off, because my face swelled so much- not that it helped much. irritation…pft. tan? maybe the color of the chemical was eclipsed by the swollen red membrane that yesterday I referred to as porcelain. the VI peels of the past have been great though. no swelling and never felt a thing.

Alright…I need advice about this Vi peel. I had it done 5 days ago…the peeling has stopped, but now, around my nose and mouth, the skin is SO raw that it is starting to SCAB!!?? Tell me this is only temporary and I am not going to have the spend the holiday party season at home with my CAT!?
The skin is kind of darkening and SO painful…anyone else had this little fun side-effect? And if so, PLEASE tell me when my skin will not look like I have some kind of wind burn or skin disease.
Thanks!

I’m on day 6 of my peel. I expected to be presentable in public by now but no luck. I am worried because I am traveling tomorrow Christmas Day to see family. This was my first peel so I was also scared and didn’t know what to expect.
My face has been extremely oily since day two, so much that even with makeup I don’t want to go out. The peeling is gross but I can live with that. My concern is all the redness and sensitivity that came once it peeled off. My face has peeled but all kinds of redness is on my checks and lots of discolorations. Then today I noticed blistering close to my nose/cheek area…it looks terrible and I don’t know what to do. Since it is the holiday season, I have not been able to reach the doctor’s office. I am worried and just hoping that it will improve soon, hopefully before I go to the airport tomorrow!!!

I am on day 5 and half my face hasnt even peeled yet. I am horribly itchy as well, havent slept in 2 days. I also did it on my chest which I do NOT recommend. Where my skin has peeled on my face i have what looks like stretchmarks. Has anyone had that??????
January 25th, 2009 at 8:56 am
How long did everyone leave the Vi Peel on for and what is your skin type?
January 25th, 2009 at 7:46 pm
I have white/olive toned skin. I got the peel thursday night. It didn’t hurt and was not itchy. I didnt need to take anything. The next day I became increasingly redish/orange. No pain or swelling at all.
The following day I started to peel around my mouth. Today, I am continuing to peel around my mouth and my nose. I would say “lizard lady” would be a good definition of the situation. I have not left the house, and even with the mosturizer it still matts down the darkened, peeling skin and I look like I stuck my face in chocolate ice cream and let it dry.
I have work tommorow but I took off the day after that. It seems like I’m gona have a few more days of this. Its going to be VERY odd to go to work like this. I am a school teacher and I am truely not presentable for the public or for teenagers or even co-workers. Next time I would do this peel only if I had a week off and was ready to sacrifice the free time for the sake of the peel. It is a bit extreme for public sitatuions. I’ve never seen anyone look like this in public.
I’m not sure when its gona be over or how its gona look. But I will be happy to have taken care of it and have it be over.I am pleased I haven’t had pain. But its not been a “go about your business” situation.

I got my peel done on Tuesday afternoon and hoping the itching, redness, burning, flaking of skin goes away soon! This is my first peel and thought there would be hardly no downtime or pain but, I haven’t been able to go into public since Wednesday and today is Saturday. I started to peel on my chin an upper lip but the peeling has kind of slowed down. So now I am left with this horrible dark, leathery skin on my cheeks and forehead. I also have a burn blister on one of my cheeks that is driving me crazy. I am worried I still will be peeling this time next week! I am a little disappointed because I got the peel to help my pigmentation problems and so far the “new” skin doesn’t look any different. Very dissapointed. Feel like I threw $300 done the drain to burn my face and spend a week avoiding the public. Can anyone offer some advice or insight how long the peeling continues. I have done everything how I was suppose to and the dr said to use a mild cleanser so I have been using cetaphil. Hoping that I am wrong and in a week will be a happy customer.
February 13th, 2009 at 8:53 am
I’m on 5 day of the peel. Most of my face has finished peeling, but my skin is very dry and tight. I think it may peel, again. Like Christina, I still see my original pigmentation problems, but the splotches appear to be lighter. I had post inflammatory hyperpigmentation from a series of fraxel treatments that were supposed to help me with melasma, but backfired. My skin tone is medium. I was hoping, after trying what has felt like everything, that the VI Peel would be a solution. I haven’t given up,as the marks do appear lighter. Has anyone else experienced stubborn dark patches that have responded to multiple treatments? Also, has anyone peeled twice from one treatment? When did it finally stop? I’m up for planning a second treatment, but it’s hard to find time for the recovery when the peeling goes on for so long! In my case, the darkness of the unpeeled skin was so dramatic compared to the newer skin that I would have scared people if I had gone out. (I must have been a funny sight scrunched down in my car with big sunglasses and my coat hood pulled up around my face when I had to pick my son up from a ski meet)!

Hi, my name is Jodey and I had my peel done on Wednesday. Today is the 3rd day and thank God I dont have class because I can’t leave the house looking like this! I’m not sure I can go to class tomorrow because its peeling like crazy and my skin is still sensitive. I’m hoping some one can give me reassurance that this process is going to get better because I feel like I’m putting my life on hold.Hellpp Pleeasse!!

hello all, i am on day 6 of my peel and had gotten my first peel about ten months ago. i actually would have preferred to wait until the end of summer to do this second peel but since i have spring break and convinced my friend to do it with me for emotional support and someone to hide in the apartment all day with i thought i would take advantage of this opportunity. i actually remember the peel differently the first time around. the first time i got extremely darker patches of skin and it was a lot thicker, and looking back at my journal i was totally presentable by day 7 but i looked like i had terrible skin. i had picked at it constantly and at one point prematurely “lightly” exfoliated my skin (bad idea) and like MS said i got raw skin underneath that looked as though it would scar, i was EXTREMELY upset and thought i had ruined my skin forever but it crusted over and a week or so afterward, when i felt my skin was thick enough (still looked like i had bad skin) i waxed off the dead skin on my cheeks, sides of my face and forehead area with sally hansen ready to use wax strips (exfoliating wouldn’t help at that point bc the skin flakes were so thin and seemed to be stubbornly sticking to my skin). after that i felt like a new woman! my skin tone increasingly got better after during the next two weeks and got a really nice glow and my skin looks so supple and fresh, all my fine lines and sun damage were gone!
fast forward to now..day 6 on second vi peel i have a bit more shedding to do on my cheeks after peeling my forehead this morning & it was fine. i picked a little this time, not nearly as much the first time around, and it looks as though the prematurely picked areas on my cheeks and frown line area is red and scabbing over now, even though i remember this from the first experience it still concerns me. but the difference this time is my skin underneath is looking really uneven and discolored, i never had discoloration before and it seems to have brought up a slew of pimples on my forehead and a bit around my jawline area, also never had a problem with acne. also all around my mouth and chin area the skin already peeled but is reallly raw but rough and seems to be building up again to peel again…wtf? so there’s really nothing i can do now except to wait and refrain from picking AT ALL any further. i’m really worried & depressed my skin will come out worse than when i went in. my friend did really well (her first time) and she’s practically done peeling and her skin underneath looks really nice and even, unlike mine. i will post back updates as this peel progresses.
March 25th, 2009 at 11:16 pm
okay it just dawned on me…i just came back from a walk and i noticed that the cold air was hurting my face, especially the area around my mouth that had already peeled & seemed to be crusting over and peeling again. then i realized my face is chapped! like an intelligent person i have kept my face dry thinking it was going to speed up the peeling process (something i didn’t do the first time, i hydrated well) combined with my nightly walks and voila! severely chapped face and lengthened healing time, yay! i hope this doesn’t damage my progress & skin too much, so i’m going to lather religiously with eucerin until it completely heals. i’ll keep updating!
March 30th, 2009 at 2:35 am
day 10 and everything turned out ok! my face is coming along and the second layer of skin has heeled and peeled with no scaring and my skin tone is evening out. so it was yesterday (day 9) that i awoke and looked like a completely normal person. keeping it moisterized and REFRAIN FROM PREMATURELY PICKING helped alot. my elbows also finally started peeling today, that’s the only other place i got it. i would love to get them on my hands, i also heard this takes a week to even begin peeling. however the peeling on my elbows is completely different that my face and neck, it’s not as messy and it doesn’t hurt at all. anyway, i was very happy with my first peel and am the same with the second!
April 29th, 2009 at 5:48 pm
I did the VI peel today and it did not burn nor was it uncomfortable. Can’t wait until tomorrow to start Day 1
May 2nd, 2009 at 8:16 am
Fast Forward…I am now on Day 3 and the peeling around my mouth has begun. I’m so excited…
May 3rd, 2009 at 8:53 pm
Day 4…my face is peeling and burning, BUT I love it…as an African American female I had serious hyperpigmentation from acne for 16 years and no lie I literally see dark spots lifting from my skin…this product is a miracle!!! My husband is in complete awe… My face looks remarkable…this was worth every 250.00 I paid
May 4th, 2009 at 3:13 pm
Day 5…still peeling…and so ready to see the new and renewed skin…it does hurt and burn around my mouth which makes it painful to eat….
May 5th, 2009 at 12:47 pm
I am so scared. I have this procedure scheduled for Friday!!! This blog is terrifying me.
May 14th, 2009 at 5:56 pm
Day 1….visited a website that advertised facials and learnt about Vi Peel. I was so excited. For years I suffered with acne scarring and dark spots. I hate wearing layers of concealer and color stay revlon foundation. My beautiful dark brown skin needs to breathe.
So…moving forward…. a consultation quickly became my 1st appt. At $250 a pop what did I have to lose??
So here I am, my face is tingling and has a shiny film. Apparently I need to sleep with the formula and clean in the morning while applying the moisterizer to ease any discomfort.
I hope this changes my life….will keep you posted.
May 15th, 2009 at 8:29 am
Day 2…. I don’t feel or see much difference from yesterday. I have a light shiny mask look going on… so as instructed, I washed with a mild facial wash and applied the VI moisturiser and sunblock. Tonight I wipe with the towellete.
No peeling has occured. I’m fighting the temptation to pick. But I did notice that facial gunk would remove VERY easily if I squeezed!! =D
May 18th, 2009 at 6:23 am
Day 3 & 4… By day 3 I noticed slight peeling and felt like a lizard. It started on the spots that had the darkest pigmentation and ‘frosted’ early during the 1st application. I spent the day applying moisturizer.
Day 4…It was official…I am the Lizard Lady. Although there is a distinct clarity and smoothness from the new skin, I’m not seeing much improvement to the actual indentation/ pits / open pores that exist on my cheeks. Any suggestions for treatment or should I just wait and see??
May 24th, 2009 at 12:59 pm
Today is my 2nd day after getting the VI Peel. I’ve had peels in the past so I more than know what to expect. I haven’t had any discomfort, and right now just waiting for the skin to start peeling. I have been in the house for the past 2 days and with tomorrow being a holiday, it gives me one more day before having to go back to work. The peel I got in the past really worked, so i’m believing this will do the same. I have areas of my face that are uneven so I just want beautiful even toned skin for the summer. Will check back in a few days
August 10th, 2009 at 4:24 pm
Today is my 7 day of the Vpeel and my face has gotten really dark instead of achieving the glow as I was made to believe. People look at me as if I’m from another planet. Would someone advise me if my color is going to change back to normal as I’m so embarrassed by the way I look or is it going to get worse.
The bad part is that I called the doctor and he’s vacation so there is nothing that i can do for the next two weeks.
September 13th, 2009 at 6:15 am
I am at my 6th day and I barely peeled at all, more like a sloughing. I am very unhappy and will call my doctor first thing Monday.
September 19th, 2009 at 1:05 am
I had the VI Peel done two weeks ago, worst mistake ever!My face is very damage from that peel I haven’t been able to do anything because I’m so scare to go out looking like this. What kills me is the fact that because of me my children have to stay home when they are not in school and I hate myself because of that.I finally got the courage to see a dr. and he didn’t make feel any better,I just hope that I can find something or someone to help me!I just hope that the dr. that invented the VI Peel reads all of our comments and stop destroyin people’s life. That’s what I call a person without a heart and no care for anybody but himself,I just hope that god makes us justuce and punish him for laying and false advertasment of his product.

I went in for a vi peel yesterday and relied on the dermatologist to provide accurate information. Once the procedure was completed, the package with the moisturizer and sunscreen was provided and I was given oral directions. The verbal directions did not include leaving the initial treatment for 4 hours or leaving it on overnight.
I needed reading glasses to read the fine print in the vi peel kit and unaware of all involved with this peel, I asked the doctor if it’s alright to wash off the treatment with the Cetaphil in his bathroom and then apply sunscreen and make up. He gave me the green light. In his words, the product had already done what it is going to do. Needless to say I am now very concerned. Is the outcome of this product going to be productive considering the vi peel was not left on the face as the directions indicated? I still feel tingling and tightening on my face. My forehead burned enough to lose sleep last night after applying the towelette on the first day.
Hydrocortisone is on the agenda tonight. Perhaps the reptile look might be related to the “additional tips section” where I wilI quote “During the time before and after you start peeling, do not excessively soak treated areas. This will cause the skin to prematurely peel, causing redness and irritation.” Does this mean not to wet your face as you wash in the shower????? What is excessive????
Anybody go through a major $250 goof like this with a positive outcome????????
October 14th, 2009 at 5:47 pm
Day 3 – yes the flakes are LESS THAN MINIMAL and you can detect them LIFTING through the corner of the eye. i reverted to the scissor technique using a rounded children’s fiskar brand to cut off the edges. so right now the flakes are reserved to the mouth and the areas that “frosted” over quickly with the application (apparently the skin shows a frost in the most needed areas). people are staring at me bewildered. children are questioning me “what happened to your face?” as they point to the areas of action. keep a low profile….it’s easier on the ego.
October 16th, 2009 at 8:08 am
ok ive not had a vi peel, but i bought this cream called gluta c cream from funky mommy, it is saposed to lighten your skin, get rid of fine lines, wrinkles, and also peel your skin due to the retin a etc. at the moment my skin has started peeling, yes and it is very dry and very red. looks like i have a very bad sun burn. my skin looks awful. people will think what the hek. im stuk in the house neway. i look awful. like a very bad sun burn. my mum was like what the hek have u done to ur skin. my skin looks very raw and red. all i can think about is, i hope my skin does not scar or get pigmentation. i hope the results r worth it. also i am developing new pimples agen, so makes me think what was the whole purpose of doing this peel if im going to get new acne and new pimples. my face looks like a walking disaster. fingers xsd. i hope it gets better
October 16th, 2009 at 5:35 pm
The ego is getting busted by the minute. Sloughing is now defined as winged skin flakes forming and waiting patiently for it to flake off. My friend reprimanded me for using scissors to cut dead skin sticking out. Initially, the kids at work think I have chicken pox until they get a closer look. Then it’s eeeewwww… that hurts!!!!! Next time I might consider wearing women’s veils from the Muslim faith for the whole week. Covering the whole face is a good idea. I cannot wait for this to heal and complete its cycle.
October 29th, 2009 at 10:15 pm
Anyone have results to report from only using one towelette? Had my first Vi Peel today. Skin looks tighter, sunburned, smells like a chem lab, and is very itchy after using the first towelette. The aesthetician didn’t mention the itching during the treatment or after care instructions. She did say if I was too uncomfortable to use a cold towel as a compress. Itching is annoying but not painful- yet.
November 13th, 2009 at 8:26 am
Hey i just had the Vi peel done yesterday and i did it on my own at my house… i am a little scared after reading all this and i had read all over the interned that supposedly by day 4 your face looks great…so is it all a lie? i have events to go to this weekend and i am scared to look like a “lizard” or a tomato like everyone is saying right now. Also i have not peeled even a bit yet i am just in the normal swollen and red stage and it also burns still. my last question is. do any of you guys know if this product also helps with acne that’s under skin?
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:24 pm
I had the VI peel done in July. I had great results. I had some particularly stubborn cyst-like acne on my cheeks that would not go away. Well the peel accelerated the healing, and the painful nodules that persisted for 3 months went away 2 weeks after I had the peel.
I peeled days 3-7. My facialist gave me accurate information, but I did all my research before shelling out the $250. I left the peel on for about 10 hours before washing my face and applying the towelette. Immediately after my peel, my face darkened quite a bit and took on a very glass-like appearance. I’m not sure if this side effect varies with different complexions (My skin color is like Naomi Campbell). The darkening went away by the next morning. Two days later, however, my face looked like a Halloween mask. On the days I peeled, I applied Dermalogica Barrier Repair immediately after washing my face (with Cetaphil) and applied Cetaphil moisturizer mixed with Hydrocortisone cream as needed throughout the day. To the person who inquired about the reference to excessive moisture: I believe that caution refers to prolonged showers or saunas. Since an excess of moisture softens the skin, the layers being exfoliated by the peel loosen prematurely. While one peel was not enough to remedy my hyperpigmentation concerns, I enjoyed the outcome of my first peel enough to splurge again.

I got my first ever VI peel last week Tuesday. Today is Sunday and I am so depressed! My face has been sloughing off except the mess under my eyes. I look and feel just awful. I can’t believe how bad this is and for this long. I thought they were exaggerating about it taking a week, didn’t think it would be that bad for that long. now I think it will take longer than a week. I have been picking, bad I know, then using a sunburn spray called dermaplast to avoid infection and relieve the pain – yes pain! discomfort? ha! it hurts! and now I see pimples along my jaw line and chin. this is ridiculous! dont do this unless you really have a week to spend in hiding!
December 7th, 2009 at 9:59 am
Today is day 6. My biggest concern is the area under my eyes. where it is peeled it is raw and red and sore and where it is not peeling it is hard and dark skin. it is half and half right now. i got this peel planning to look great for a big holiday party tomorrow night but i am going to cancel because there is no way on day 7 that i will look slightly okay. did i mention i have severe swelling under my right eye? i am going back to the doctor on Thursday, that will be day 9, i don’t know what they can possibly do. i will just have to wait it out. i can’t imagine the results will be worth this pain and humiliation. i have had a nose job, eye job, botox, lip injections, exfoliation (child birth and a kidney stone!) every one of those experiences has been better than this!
December 8th, 2009 at 10:44 am
one week in and my undereyes are a raw mess. i still have pain and both eyes are swollen underneath. i am using peroxide on the weepy crusty areas and neosporin on the dryer areas. my eyes feel dry and i just want to close them! this peel could be the worst mistake i have ever made! i am so depressed. i am trying to hide until this is better. i have had to cancel social engagments and i am just hoping to be somewhat presentable by day 10. i would not recommend this to anyone!
December 14th, 2009 at 1:59 pm
Amy – what day are you one now? I had my Vi peel done 5 days ago and I think I made a big mistake. I started to peel arounnd my mouth over to my cheeks and I woke up peeling them – I had been doing it in my sleep! Now the skin is major red, crusty, weeping and looks like BAD wind burn. I went to the Dr today and she said picking the skin was bad but it would not case scars. But I don’t believe her – my chin and mouth area hurt so bad I can barley open my mouth to eat because the skin pulls and cracks. Please tell me how you are doing.

Veta – how terrible! I hope things get better for you like they say. I am still peeling so I don’t know what to expect. I have some really RED areas that have peeled and look as though the color will remain red. I also have two streaks from where I pulled the skin off in my sleep. I had taked Ambien to sleep from the itching and woke up having pulled off both sides of my face by my nose. My Dr. said that I should have taken Benedryl. They really need to get the word out to people that picking is the worst thing you can do!!!! Had I known I would have tied up my hands when I went to bed. I only hope I don’t have permenant damage. What does your skin look like and did your Dr. offer to do a second peel to make it better?

Hello DJ
The redness is going to go away, but if you got brown spots and white spots from the peeling that is going to take a long time.My skin is horrible, i got white spots, brown spots, extra skin it is just horrible and ”yes” they offer me a second peeling, but a refuse to do it,after the hell that i went through and what I’m going through right now,i don’t think so(not even make up can help me,yes it is that bad).I just hope it works better for you,and hopefully everybody stops using this devil’s vi peel product.and thank you for caring I just hope with all of my heart that my skin heals itself and starts looking better. My best wishes for you and everybody else who are going through this hell.Marry christmas and happy new year.

hey all, i am close to 4 weeks out now and i still have a ton of blotchy redness under my eyes. makeup does not hide it. my skin is very dry (yes it is winter in the north). i really think my crows feet are more visible due to the post peel dryness. i have had botox aroud my eyes since the peel but i still believe i looked better before i had the vi peel. my skin is very sensitive now. i still have nothing good to say about this procedure. probably won’t post anymore so best wishes for a happy new year!

I had VI peel done on the 24/12/09. Today is day 15 after the peel. The doctor said it will takes 7 days to complete and on the 10th day the skin will be new and good. I notice my skin is even worst than before I did the peel. I did not pick the skin. There is additional dark patches not there before (it was raw and turn dark) it is not peeling anymore.
I regret doing this peel, it makes my skin look worst. Im going to see the Dr soon. Anyone had same experience? how to tackle this now? pleas help..

Does anyone that is african-american (with the skin color like Naomi Campbell) have results from THE BEGINNING TO THE END??? I am concerning getting the VI Peel, but after reading all of these blogs I am having second thoughts. Black skin can easily be scarred. Can someone please help me?

Ihad my peel 5 days ago. My face is on fire and I have not seen any peeling. I have these small tiny bumps on my jaw line and lots of them and they itch terribly. I have not seen any changes except for the itchy and redness. I think I will call the Dr. and see if this is normal..

My first vi peel went well, with good results after six days. One year later, I did a second vi peel….I am still stuck at home from work and peeling on day 7. This is not the kind of peel you would want to go out in public in…or see anyone for that matter. The peeling process has been slow, discusting, and slighlty painful. I made the mistake of popping two whiteheads that emerged before my skin started peeling and I have scabs and soreness in that area, and a strip of skin still protecting the new skin because of the aggitation. I WILL NEVER EVER DO THE VI PEEL AGAIN, or any medium depth chemical peel again. It is truely a painstaking process and so gross. I barely slept. I am missing work…and I am a teacher…so its a real shame. If you do this peel, just be really clear on what you might go through. And for me, the second time has been MUCH worse than the first.

day 4 of my vi peel
my face is almost halfway peeled thank god but the remainder of my skin is so dark and tight. And the skin that has already peeled is red and irritated in some places my dr. suggested that I use and antibiotic ointment for my redness but that doesn’t really seem to help that much. My new skin looks pretty good overall I’m just so impatient and hope my skin returns to it normal ph sooner than later. I’m off of work for four more days and I praying that I’m back to normal by then

So I recieved my Vi peel in the mail today. I had read alot of the reviews but I was not scared to try it…I tried a similar peel before called the vitalize peel. It was a 3 layer peel and had similar effects ie My skin peeled like a snake for about a week, other than that no bad reactions. I also use glycolic products on a regular basis so I thin my skin will not react as badly as some peoples have. Its been on my face now for 3 hours and my skin is barely red anymore. I am going to leave it on overnight…I am confused with the towelette a bit….So in the morning i wash this off and apply the 1st towelette?? And then in the evening tomorrow the other towelette??? Will update tomorrow on how my face is doing!!!

Hi all.
I had my first Vi Peel about 6 weeks ago.
I left if for 5hrs before washing off, applied the towelette that night and the next night before going to bed.
My face looked like sun-tanned but it wasn’t too bad. I had not much irritation or itchiness.
My skin peeled from day 3-6, and looked fine by day 7.
My skin kept improving its texture over a few weeks and it looked really really good 3 weeks after the peel.
Most of my pores and acne scar were gone!!
My esthetician told me that peeling takes longer for older person. She said it took a 70 y.o lady 1 month to complete the peel!

And I just had my 2nd Vi Peel 3 days ago. I used enhancer this time to diminish the deep acne scar I could not get rid of at my 1st peel.
I did exactly the same as I did at my 1st peel, but this time it really really itches around my neck and my face turned very red like I just burnt my face with fire…
The skin on my neck looks kind of bubbly, and where I had scars on face look very dark.
Today, my skin started peeling around my mouth just like the 1st time.
I am a bit concerened but hope it turns out good by Monday.

I had the VI peel for melasma and acne and it was rough in the begining because it was painful, itchy and so tight. It was like sheets of leathery skin hanging from my face. I did everything the dr. said to do and my skin looks worse with darker melasma patches, extreme dryness and I can’t wear make-up. I have acne scars that look worse and deeper and the blemishes are redder. That’s not to mention that I look 10 years older from the crows feet around my eyes I never had. Horrible peel!!! Bad outcome and it was $300. I just don’t know what to do now. I’m so ashamed of my face. I keep getting subtle things done and they go horribly wrong. It’s not fair.

So I recently got the V-PEEL, and sadly, NO GOOD RESULTS YET.
On Day 1 after the peel, I turned bright red gradually. My face felt tight.
Day 2, I rinsed off the peel, and applied the retin A pad. My face looked like I sat in the sun for 100 hours, it was obvious where the peel was applied.
Day 3, I started peeling. Applied the Retin towelette, and IT BURNS on the new skin, so avoid the new skin.
Day 4- Peeling
Day 5- peeling around hairline, and on my neck (SO PAINFUL) My neck has been red and blotchy from the peel
Day 6- CYSTIC acne and whiteheads appearing. Skin is scaly, and dry and no improvement is seen. In fact my skin looks worse.
Day 7. Regretting that I got the peel, waste of MONEY and more acne surfacing. My skin does not look refreshed. Does not look healthier. Does not look better in any way.
Day 8. I want my money back!
