Blake Lively’s adorable headbands
Gossip Girl may be “Every Parent’s Nightmare”, to quote the ubiquitous billboards showing the pretty cast getting down and dirty, but Blake Lively’s hair is every beauty addict’s dream. No? (Chace Crawford isn’t too damn bad, either. I’m sure he rolls out of bed looking camera-ready, but I do wonder how much time our boys have to spend in the hair and makeup chair everyday to get them looking just right.) Gossip Girl seems to be single-handedly championing a scarf/headband/hairpiece revival, which is very helpful for those lazy girls (like moi!) who enjoy rolling out of bed and haphazardly making the stuff on our head look presentable. One of my favorite places for cute-but-still-affordable hair accessories is Target. Check out the Isaac Mizrahi rhinestone headband below, which is sort of similar to the Grecian-inspired look Serena Blake is sporting below. Sure, it says it’s bridal, but why wait for a $50,000 party when you can wear it now?

I definitely noticed a huge resurgence of the headband on this show. It’s kind of crazy because they’re not just the thin, elastic headbands that have been popular for the minimalists of late, they’re full on, brightly colored, padded, in your face, I’M-A-HEADBAND, headbands. It’s insane. I love it!

I started collecting an arsenal if headbands two years ago when I was working at Starbucks. I figured if my outfit had to follow the white/black/beige/brown dress code, my hair accessories would at least allow me to express some character and color. So when GG started bringing them back, I was thrilled. On my third day of not washing my hair, I use some dry shampoo, hot rollers (for body) and then throw my hair up with a headband and go.
Speaking of the headbands, Blake’s hair looked especially amazing in the episode “The Thin Line between Chuck and Nate” in the scene where Dan tells Serena he loves her. She has it kind of half up, half down with a headband/scarf. It’s carefully messy and very boho. Any idea how to recreate the look? Her hair looks so full, I imagine there must have been some extensions used…

so she gets a gorgeous outfit and he shows up in an undershirt? what wardrobe couldn’t find a nice bleached linen shirt for him?
