Bring back Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil On The Go!

MAKEUP 7

For the past few months, I’ve been attached at the hip (or, rather, the cheek) to my Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil On The Go.  It’s brilliant: a travel-friendly, no-mess version of the excellent loose mineral powder that I’ve loved for years.  Mineral Veil in its regular form is great for sopping up oil, keeping the complexion looking fresh, and touching up makeup during the day–I apply mine before my Bare Minerals foundation to prime the skin, and then do a another pass afterwards to set everything–but it can be a bit messy.  In fact, this is a problem with all the Bare Minerals foundations; I love them like a smackhead craves the junk, but I have heard complains from newly BE-addicted friends about keeping the powder from flying everywhere.   If only there were self-contained versions of the foundation, too…  (Do you see where I’m going with this, Bare Escentuals executives?)

So!  This offering, with the Mineral Veil neatly stored inside the tube with brush attached, is fabulous.  What is not fabulous is the fact that, apparently, this was a limited-edition offering only available to Sephora Beauty Insider program members.  Bring it back!  Bring it baaack!  I have enough to last me for the next few months, but I want everyone to be able to experience this product’s amazingness!  (Well, okay, and I want to be able to restock myself, too.)

I love this product. I use it all day everyday. The girl at Sephora told me it was refillable, even with Clear Radiance. She said everything but the foundation is fine enough to fit through the little holes and on to the brush. I haven’t had to refill mine yet, but will need to in the coming months. I also love the fact that it does work as a powder by making your face look glowing and even and it is a lot easier to find in your purse than a powder compact!!!

Did you know it’s refillable with the mineral veil? The top screws off and you can fill it with more mineral veil.

Yes it is definitely refillable. Just make sure you it is empty before unscrewing cap because I made a mess!

What I’ve always wondered is why BE can’t make a pressed powder version of their mineral foundation? Other mineral lines do it and it’s less messy! Come on, BE!

I saw that at my local Sephora this holiday season and considered picking it up. I decided to go with the mini-sized, loose MV instead. But just today I ordered a refillable brush from Sephora for just this reason…to keep my Mineral Veil neat and handy for traveling.

Like Toya said though, I do wish they’d make a pressed version. I gave up on taking BE with me when I travel (outside of the MV). It’s just too messy and I can never seem to get it to work well with my mini-buki.

When you say the “top” screws off, which part do you mean? The grey plastic with the brush attached, or some other part? I can’t get mine apart (and I’m desperate to refill!).

Underneath, the clear plastic container unscrews. Hold it with that clear plastic container on TOP, though, as anything in there will spill out.

I think the reason they don’t make a pressed powder is because of talc, which is toxic. From Wikipedia:

Several studies have established preliminary links between talc and pulmonary issues, lung cancer, skin cancer and ovarian cancer. This is a major concern considering talc’s widespread commercial and household use. In 1993, a US National Toxicology Program report found that cosmetic grade talc caused tumours in animals Scientists have been aware of the toxicity of talc since the late 1960s…
