Jolie, the Prom Queen
What were you like in high school? Jolie was a total nerd! Sure, maybe she wasn’t completely unfortunate, and theoretically there may have been one or two boys who thought she was cute…but, believe you me, there was some late blooming going on. (Not to mention lots of extra schoolwork in the form of Academic Team competitions, Speech Tournaments and Debates! Yeeeah…the social life wasn’t necessarily rockin’.)
But lo! Last night we were named Prom Queen at the Blogger Prom! Of course, the entire thing was somewhat marred by the fact that 1) A girl passed by early in the evening, saw our nametag and said, “Dude, aren’t you that chick who wants to be Prom Queen?” (Baby, if retweeting for self-promotion is wrong, we don’t want to be right!); and 2) Some demanded a recount after my Twitter-based victory. (Sigh. So political.)
Seriously, we kid! It was a rocking time, and we were happy to be invited at all. The best part of the night, however, was not Jolie’s stunning upset, but the “What The..?” reaction we got from patrons across the street at ubertrendy Skybar following the event. My “date” S. and I breezed in like we owned the joint, 80’s pouf skirts, “Born to Blog” t-shirts and Prom Queen crown at the ready…and much to the confusion of fellow Skybar revelers, we rocked it like the coolest kids in school.
I know, I look “toasted,” as my friend said today. Sadly, it’s the only photo I have of my triumph, and I had to mar it with a silly kissy face! Alas.
