Sampar Ultra Hydrating Fluid

sampar_ultra_hydrating_fluid.jpgIt occurred to me this morning as I was cleansing my skin (in between debilitating coughing fits–hooray for bronchitis!) that there really is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to skincare.  After running out of my beloved JolieMD Metamorphosis at the same time I was gifted a set of Arcona’s Basic Five regimen, I began testing the Arcona and also fell in love.  This past week, however, I’ve been sick (I mean, well and truly ill) and as such have been buying stock in Kleenex, being super lax with my skincare, and just generally not paying much attention to my normal routine–which resulted in my chin sporting a flaky, scruffy beard-thing.  Watch out, boys.

So, while I’m normally a huge fan of Arcona Magic White Ice (an antimicrobial hydrating gel for both AM/PM), right now, it’s doing nothing for my skin–probably because it’s not heavy enough, and I’m currently desperate for moisture.  I felt confused, wondering, “Was I wrong about this product?  Is it not as awesome as I thought?”  But then I reminded myself that no skincare product is a panacea.  What works for me may not work for you, and what works for me on a hot, humid Tuesday might not be the best option for my skin on a dry, freezing Saturday.  Just as they advise you to switch up shampoos for maximum results, I think it’s good to have a few different skincare offerings on your shelves, to tackle whatever issues your skin might be having at the moment.

On that note, two nights ago, when my skin was in a bad way, I picked up a tube of Sampar Ultra Hydrating Fluid that I’d just been given and decided to try it out.  Mon dieu!  It felt intensely soothing, like an angel balm whipped up in God’s test laboratory.  The next morning, against all-odds (hacking sickness, in general, does not lend itself to a gorgeous complexion) my skin looked ridiculously good.  Like: Vaseline-smeared-on-the-lens, somebody-slept-with-the-Director-of-Photography good.  Sampar is a French line that apparently all the cool kids over there are in-the-know about, so once I re-enter the land of the healthy, I resolve to be a cool kid, too!

I’m not sure if you’re aware, but product posts are now required to included a FTC disclosure. From my understanding, the punishment is a fine if you don’t act in accordance so I would get on that.

Hi Daphne! Thanks for your message. Yes, I am definitely aware of the FTC guidelines; you can check out my disclosure at the top of my blog, on the FAQs tab. Just for your own information, it’s not the bloggers that will be fined, but (theoretically) the companies who provide them with product. We’re also not, as of now, required to put individual disclosures on each post – a blanket disclosure will suffice.
Cheers! Looking forward to checking out your blog, too!

    Hi Jolie!

You are absolutely right that all skin care does not work for all people. It’s important to test various ones.

I think it’s interesting that sometimes we might THINK we know what works best, and have been using it for years, but then for one reason or another, we try something new. Surprise! It’s even better!

    Thanks for an interesting post.

    Hope you’re feeling better soon!

    All the Best,

    Susanna Hess
