Blake Lively turned up to the TIME magazine 100 Most Influential Gala last night with new red hair. (Although, apparently, it’s not so new, as the color change, done by Rona O’Connor, took place a month ago.)

I’m all for hair experimentation: it’s just hair! It grows back/can be redyed! However, while I love and applaud Blake’s getting out of her same ol’-same ol’ comfort zone, I do think she’s better as a blond. And while Blake would look sexy in a paper bag with a mohawk, there’s something about this particular shade that makes me hope it’s just a pretty-but-temporary phase.

Side note: Blake was quoted as telling People that she feels “like Ariel” from The Little Mermaid. When you see the full effect of her wavy red Botticelli hair and the seafoam green Zuhair Murad dress, it’s easy to agree!
