Latest P&G Challenge: Wear High Heels

FASHION, SPONSORED POST 2

I know this makes me a bad female, but I can’t stand wearing high heels. They hurt! Seriously: what’s everybody’s secret? How do you walk in those things?

Once flats became chic, I was able to breathe a sartorial sigh of relief: I own flats in a variety of colors and live in them. It takes bribery (and usually promises of champagne and black tie) to coax me into a pair of heels –which happens about once a year.

So, while this isn’t really a challenge for anybody but me, I resolve to trade my flats for high heels!

High Heels, Smooth Legs
Obviously, the first thing I need to do to rock high heels is get my legs in fighting shape with some quality razor time. I use a Venus Pro Skin Moisture Rich Razor. I’m genuinely obsessed with Venus razors—in my opinion, they work better than any other razor on the market and I’ve been buying them since college. (This particular razor, however, has been generously provided by P&G!)

Sky-High Heels
Next up: selecting the heel. I have a cute, orange pair that was sent to me as a gift months ago [note: actually, from SoleSociety.com, which is a super cool shoe club that I'm loving], and which I literally have not worn once. Now seems like the perfect time to pull these puppies out. I strap ‘em on, head out for the evening…and promptly experience foot pain about 5 minutes later. (Read more here.)

Hey Nadine! Long time no speak! Yet another great post. You look wonderful!

Regarding the ongoing heel hurting drama every woman suffers with, I personally believe every girl should have gel inserts placed in EVERY sky-high stiletto they own. They work WONDERS!! I wear heels a lot and I honestly don’t think I’d survive a full days work without them and I’m on my feet all day! Also, I’ve noticed a chunky platform helps soften the instep. Weird, but it works.

Hope all is well and do check out my blog when you get a chance! I would love to talk to you about my beauty internship at NYLON!!

    Warmest wishes,

The key is not too high. If you can’t flex your forefoot any more (I wear an 8 and generally just shy of 3″ is the max heal I can wear comfortably, anything higher is decorative and not for walking) then most of your weight ends up on your forefoot and your ankle ends up taking the shock of your walk. Obviously with a platform in the front you can take the heal height up a bit but generally if you keep it under that height and get used to them you should be fine. Cheers
