Hooray for royal weddings! The entire Firm descended on Edinburgh, Scotland this weekend for Zara Phillips‘ wedding to rugby star Mike Tindall. Unlike William and Kate‘s lavish spectacle, Zara and Mike’s wedding will be a private family event, taking place tomorrow at the Canongate Kirk on the Royal Mile, in view of the Palace of Holyroodhouse–the Queen’s official residence in Scotland. The usual suspects will be there, including The Queen, Prince Charles, Prince Harry and William and Kate.
I fell in love with Scotland after my recent trip (still need to do a proper post about my time in Edinburgh, particularly my stay at the Balmoral Hotel)–the people there are so incredibly friendly, cheerful, and full of life. I can’t imagine that Zara and Mike’s wedding will be anything but a rollicking good time.
Champagne? Why, yes, please!
Zara Phillips is Princess Anne‘s daughter and Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter, yet she doesn’t have a royal title and is, as a result, a commoner. (Despite her status, she’s still 13th in line for the throne.) Her unpretentious manner and devotion to sports–she’s represented England in the Olympics as an equestrian and is a former Eventing World Champion–make her one of my favorite members of the royal family. Reportedly, the Queen adores Zara and her brother Peter.
Love seeing all the young royals together!
