Ramble: Vote for me in the Bloggie awards, Tracy Anderson’s DVDs, Mila Kunis is the new face of Dior
Hey guys! How’s your week been? I think the first week of January is usually a strange time; it’s slow as molasses while everybody gets back into the swing of their normal routines and awakens from holiday comas…but if you’re not careful, you’ll look at the calendar and suddenly realize that a third of the month has already zoomed by.
Here’s an oldie but goodie that I stumbled across today while doing my usual Kate Middleton search: a picture of Pippa Middleton in a stunning blue Ted Baker trench coat that I seriously covet. I love Ted Baker; my father was always buying pieces for my mother when I was younger, and I picked up a pair of tan Ted heels in London this spring that I adore. (My friends and Boyfriend Jolie do not adore them, however, as they ended up being a half-size too big and so, according to them, I look like a little girl wearing my mother’s shoes. Hmph.)
Duchess Kate showed up at the London premier of War Horse tonight in Leicester Square wearing a black lace Temperley dress. From the looks of the photos, it was rainy in London earlier today, but Kate’s famous hair still looks perfect thanks to her hairstylist James Pryce. (James is coming to LA soon and I’m going to interview him – eeeiiii!!! Clearly, I can’t wait.) Meanwhile, tomorrow January 9th is Kate’s 30th birthday. Marrying the future King of England in the wedding of the century and becoming the most photographed, scrutinized woman in the world: what a monumental way to close out your 20′s, huh? (And on a related note, tomorrow is also Jolie’s 1 year anniversary with Boyfriend Jolie. When I realized we shared the date with Kate, my excitement was more than a little embarrassing for all parties.)
I’ve often thought about starting a separate blog devoted solely to Kate Middleton and her style, but it would be an absurd amount of work and detract from this ol’ blog here. So, I apologize to those of you who are bored silly by my Kate love and appreciate you putting up with it! Hopefully you enjoy all the Kate pics at least un poquito.
Remember when I went to the Emmy Awards in the fall? Galderma just sent me a video they made of me behind-the-scenes talking about my experience. Check it out above, and also see my rosacea interview with Dr. Debra Luftman here!
Nominations are open for the Twelfth Annual Weblog Awards. I wonder if you might take two minutes to follow this link and nominate your fair Jolie for Best Fashion/Beauty Blog, Best Writing and the Lifetime Achievement Blog? (The Lifetime Achievement award is for bloggers who have been writing since January 1, 2006. Isn’t it funny to think that doing anything for only 6 years could merit such an award? The internet! :jazz hands:) I know I’m supposed to be like, “Oh, what? An award? Well! (Blushing) I mean…I guess if you don’t mind…Really, writing daily to an audience is reward enough (flutters lashes).” Screw that! I’ve never won a blogging award and maybe that’s because my blog is terrible and I should confine my thoughts to my journal. But! I like to think it’s just because I’ve been too shy in the past to put myself forward. So here we are! Putting said-self forward! Pick me, pick me!
Just keep in mind that you have to nominate at least 3 blogs across the various categories. If you need suggestions, may I point you in the direction of the blogs I voted for?: Afrobella (Beauty), Ramshackle Glam (Beauty and Best Design) and Hotel Belle (Travel). I know the power you Jolie readers wield (examples over the years have included the Paris trip and my upcoming trip to the People’s Choice Awards with CVS), so my fingers are crossed you’ll vote!
Now that we have that nonsense out of the way…have you seen Mila Kunis‘s new ads for Dior? Methinks she looks stunning, although I don’t know why the photos need to be quite so gauzy. You have a bit too much Vaseline on the lens there, Mikael Jansson.
Phew! This is turning into quite the ramble! The last thing I want to share with you: I’ve hopped on board the Tracy Anderson train. Since January 1st, I’ve been doing Tracy’s Metamorphosis DVD workouts and not only do I feel much stronger, but I’ve lost 6 pounds and can see a huge difference in my body already. The DVD set has an intro written by Gwyneth Paltrow, who claims to have been so wowed by Tracy’s “work on the smaller muscles that people usually ignore” method after the birth of her second baby that Gwynnie became a partner in Tracy’s company. Really, her method simply boils down to muscle exhaustion of underworked groups, but it requires 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of muscle work daily. Her diet is absolutely insane (guess what? Eat soup for 7 days and you’ll lose weight!) but I’ve been following a modified, not-insane version to cut back my calories and re-set my eating habits. So far, so great. I’ll keep you posted and will try not to fall off the bandwagon. (Cut to Jolie 3 weeks from now, lying in bed, Ferrero Rocher wrappers strewn everywhere.)
Best of all? You can still drink wine on the Tracy Anderson plan. Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!
