Paul Mitchell: The Truth About Curls

If my mother saw this photo (taken of me this weekend at the Viceroy after using Paul Mitchell Curls products) she'd yell at me for slouching
The grass is always greener, so even though my hair has crazy wave and lots of texture, I’d rarely worn it curly until this summer, when urged by my stylist Paul-Jean: “You have beautiful texture and wave–I wish you would wear your hair curly!” I left Paul-Jean’s salon with a rocking new haircut and a determination to let my natural texture loose…and voila! Air-dry summer was born!

So, Paul Mitchell has a new line of hair products designed for curly girls, and I used them this weekend to get my curl on. I’ve been a Paul Mitchell fan since I was a kid, as they were the line my mother primarily used–I’d sneak into her shower and use the Awapuhi shampoo or Hair Repair Treatment and feel like such an adult. The new Curls line smells great–it includes Spring Loaded Detangling Shampoo, Twirl Around Crunch-Free Curl Definer, and Full Circle Leave-In Treatment–and I particularly like the Ultimate Wave Beachy Texture Cream Gel, which I used to create the hair above and get tousled (faux) surfer girl waves.
Paul Mitchell also has a campaign on their Facebook page–The Truth About Curls–designed to coax “Curl Confessions” out of us.

My Curl Confession? Wearing it curly allows me to go even longer between washes: sometimes as long as 6 days! Eek!

Great picture! I rarely wear my hair natural either, I blow it as straight as possible, and then mother nature messes it up! LOL
You look fantastic. And you aren’t slouching that much.
I love your hair so much. First came across you in a vlog on youtube years ago and thought it was lovely then too. Does your mom have wavy hair or your dad? Great genes! I’d love to have wavy hair like yours.
Thanks Tracy, and I appreciate the pep talk, Luli! ;) E., thank you very much! My mom had fairly straight and fine hair with a tiny bit of wave, but my dad has extremely thick hair (and still has all of it!) so I suspect the genes come from him.
This hair is really all about blowdrying the bangs and the bit in front (to make it look polished) and then scrunching the HELL out of the bottom while using product.
