This weekend was one of my favorite events in LA: the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic.
Now, as you guys know, I worked in polo for a couple of years in Palm Beach and England–as the business manager to Carlos Gracida, the winningest player in the history of polo–and so I take it all pretty seriously. That is to say, when I go to polo games, I actually watch the match. So the past 2 years, I’ve gotten fairly annoyed at the VC Polo Classic because people treat it like a fashion show, wearing over-the-top Royal Ascot-worthy ensembles while rubbernecking and completely ignoring the action on the field.
But this year, I decided to give in and embrace the fashion madness. After all, I do get dressed up when at Royal Ascot–though certainly not at polo events like the Queen’s Cup or Gold Cup–and isn’t it fun to wear pretty dresses? My grey dress is from Miss Selfridges in London and my new hair cut and color is thanks to Angela Gagliardi at Byu-Ti Santa Monica.
While in England last week, I even went out and bought myself a fascinator. I already own one hat and one fascinator, but they’re both currently chilling out in the English countryside at the famous K.Sned’s parents house.
And here’s Sydne looking adorable and starting a balloon trend. (After she grabbed one, a rush happened for the other balloons.)
Plus celebs like my favorite gal Mandy Moore were there. How can you NOT love Mandy?! She’s wearing purple Lela Rose and looking amazing, as always.
It was a magical afternoon – thanks to Veuve Clicquot for throwing such an awesome event! If you’re in LA next October, make sure you get tickets to the 4th annual Polo Classic. And in the meantime, if you’re interested in a quick primer on polo: voila.
