Living Proof Root Lifting Spray for soft, long-lasting volume

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

By Hilary Englert:

As fall inches ever closer, it’s time to face facts: I cannot continue to rely on the salt water-spackled beach hair I’ve rocked all summer. So, the big question now facing me: how will I update my hair regimen?

Cut to Living Proof Full Root Lifting Spray, an easy way to achieve the ideal amount of root volume without any greasiness or stiffness. You know what I’m talking about! So many volumizing products leave hair crunchy and unforgiving.  However, a little dose of Full Root Lifting Spray on wet hair gives natural looking body with minimal time commitment.

After several uses, I’ve found Full Root Lifting Spray is strong enough to provide long lasting lift–no mid-day flatness!–and flexible enough to survive an entire day’s (and night’s) activities. Color me a fan.

Living Proof Full Root Lifting Spray is available in September at Sephora. For fans of the entire line, Living Proof is also launching a sulfate-free Full Shampoo, Full Conditioner and Full Thickening Cream that are all also worth checking out.

Intern Kayte visits colorist Marcus Daniels

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

Intern Kayte (soon to be former-Intern Kayte, fare thee well!) writes:

Colorist Marcus Daniels does not mess around.

The L.A. local and Aspen native coloring artist is truly one of a kind.  He’s not there to talk about life’s problems, your personal relationships, or to give you advice on what to wear out that evening– he’s there to give you amazing color, and he delivers.

I visited him in the Beverly Hills Giuseppe Franco salon, a friendly, light-hearted place full of talented jokers.

Marcus Daniels himself is a down-to-earth, fun hearted, “it isn’t work because it is something I love” genius. One long, thoughtful look at my ends and my roots, and he was mixing together color like he was working on the Sistine Chapel.

No foil needed!  He’s an artist, and painted and treated me like a masterpiece. My quest for an all-natural Jennifer Aniston blonde was easily fulfilled, with an extra touch of what Marcus described as ‘Manhattan beach hottie’ flavor. On top of my base he ran his fingers through my hair and picked out random pieces to paint by baliage, a free-form highlighting technique truly as fascinating as the word itself.

For simply gorgeous, striking color, I heartily recommend Marcus Daniels. Don’t forget to ask for Leo and Angel to wash your hair, and request Vanessa for a bouncy, beautiful blow- dry!

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Giveaway

Monday, July 19th, 2010

As you might know, there are only a few hair brands I’ve pledged undying devotion to, and Shu Uemura Art of Hair is one of them. The entire line is super glamorous and pampering, works better than Kerastase (IMO), and while the prices are hardly bargain bin, the products are worth every penny.

Shu is offering up a giveaway for 1 lucky Jolie reader, who will get Silk Oil Camellia Smoothing Fluid, Sheer Lacquer Finishing Spray and Kaze Wave Sensual Curl Texturizing Foam. The contest will be open to North American readers, and will end this Friday July 23rd.

To enter, leave a comment on my FB fan page telling me why you want to win!  Good luck!

PS: Shu Uemura Art of Hair has just partnered with V Magazine and model Coco Young for a cool video project.  Check it out here!

Intelligent Nutrients haircare…so pure you can drink it?!

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

My friends at Lock and Mane (a fabulous website featuring the latest and greatest in hair products, plus an awesome blog) sent me this video just before the holiday weekend, and it’s such craziness that I had to post it.

Every week, they celebrate Champagne Thursday…and this particular round of cocktails included a top-up with Intelligent Nutrients‘ organic hair products, to put their “it’s so natural you can eat it” claims to the test.

A tiiiiny part of me expected Jo to spontaneously combust after taking a sip, but she survives intact.  The things we do for beauty!

Glee/Dove winner announced!

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Congratulations to Stacey D., who wins last week’s Glee/Dove contest.

Stacey, you’ll get the new Dove Damage Therapy line, including Damage Therapy Intensive Repair Shampoo and Conditioner, 2 Dove Damage Therapy Daily Treatment Conditioners, and the Glee DVD signed by Lea Michele!

I loved reading everybody’s suggestions for the best songs that Glee might cover in the future.  My hit-list?  Personally, I’d love a Glee 90’s edition, with Nirvana “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, a girl-power mash-up of Pearl Jam “Why Go?” and No Doubt “Just a Girl,” Spin Doctor “Two Princes,” Rachel singing “Criminal” by Fiona Apple and “Stay” by Lisa Loeb, and finally George Michael “Freedom! 90.”

And, of course: anything Britney Spears!
