L’Oreal Women in Film and Entertainment Weekly Emmy’s Party

Monday, September 26th, 2011

Associate Editor Jamie Stone writes:

The Emmys are always a big to-do here in Hollywood, which is exactly why I was excited to attend the 2011 Entertainment Weekly and Women In Film Pre-Emmy party, sponsored by L’Oreal.

The party was hosted at BOA Steakhouse in West Hollywood and was filled to the brim with celebs from Glee (Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz, Ashley Fink, etc.), Entourage (Lloyd!), The Office, True Blood and the Emmy-winning Modern Family. Oh, and, of course, I can’t forget Connie Britton, Aimee Teegarden and Michael B. Jordan from my beloved Friday Night Lights, which won two Emmys the following night!

Since the evening was sponsored by L’Oreal there was no shortage of lipgloss in the house, specifically at their Colour Riche Le Gloss lipgloss bar, where you could select two of your favorite shades to take home and try out – a fun night, LA style. But in addition to sponsoring the EW party, L’Oreal was also responsible for the Emmy makeup look of The Good Wife star, Julianna Margulies, who took home the Emmy Award for Best Actress in a drama series!

Julianna looked gorgeous at the Emmys, wearing L’Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Professional Magic Smooth Souffle on her face with The One Sweep Sculpting Blush in “Poppy” and Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara in “Carbon Black” on her eyes and Infallible Le Rouge in “Opulent Organza” on her lips. Her love-it-or-leave-it dress (what’d you all think?) was by Armani Prive.

All in all, it was an amazing, glam party – thanks to L’Oreal Paris for the invitation!

My night at the Emmy Awards with Galderma!

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

3 Emmys at the Entertainment Tonight after-party!

I went to the Emmy awards this weekend thanks to Galderma (the makers of rosacea treatments Metrogel and Oracea, as well as Cetaphil) and it was an absolutely amazing time. We spent the weekend downtown, got all glammed up at the Sheraton thanks to in-suite hairstylists and makeup artists, had private sessions with Dr. Debra Luftman to talk rosacea awareness (answers to your rosacea questions coming soon!) and then took a limo to the ceremony itself.

We had seats in the very first row of the Mezzanine, which meant we were able to see everything from above without much interruption or fuss. In between every commercial break, everybody on the floor kept hopping up and scurrying around like ants, only to be prodded back to their (sometimes now filled) seats by the increasingly desperate announcer. It was fascinating to see what really goes on!

To make matters even cooler, I was invited to the Entertainment Tonight after-party, where…Stevie Nicks performed! When my friend Dara and I discovered the Stevie was the surprise musical guest, we nearly lost it, but instead of freaking out we hightailed it for the stage and got standing room in the 2nd row.

Stevie did Rhiannon, Dreams, Landslide, Stand Back and Gold Dust Woman. It. Was. Phenomenal.

I’d love to spend hours doing a blow-by-blow for you, but my computer is still broken. I’m currently at my boyfriend’s apartment, plowing through all of the work I’m increasingly behind on, and praying to the computer gods that I have my baby back soon. Que frustrating! It’s been an exhausting month, and shows no signs of letting up as I’m heading to Montreal this weekend, Orange County next, and New York City the following. Phew! Anyhow, c’est la vie. Better to be busy than bored, right?

All glammed up and ready for our great Emmy night!

Thanks to Galderma for an unforgettable evening!

CoverGirl 50th Anniversary Party

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

Last night I went to the CoverGirl 50th Anniversary Party at Boa Steakhouse–and let me tell you, it was a hell of a good time! To celebrate both the 50th Anniversary and the launch of CoverGirl’s new Nature Luxe line, they brought together all the past and present CoverGirls, including Drew Barrymore, Niki Taylor, Rachel Hunter (who looked amazing–I spent the whole evening thinking she was her own daughter), Queen Latifah, Ellen DeGeneres, Dania Ramirez, Cheryl Tiegs and newest CoverGirl Taylor Swift.

Sam Ronson DJed, and it felt as if all of Hollywood was there, post People’s Choice Awards. Other guests included Cat Deeley, Lauren Conrad, Selena Gomez, Sofia Vergara, Beverly Johnson, Amber Riley, Cory Monteith, Sophia Bush, Whitney Port, Louise Roe, Brittany Snow, Jesse Williams, Mario Lopez, Kate Walsh and Kendra Baskett.

I have an enormous girl crush on Drew Barrymore, so I was simply excited to see her in the flesh: gorgeous and adorable, as always!

Before the party, CoverGirl brought together several beauty bloggers in a suite at the London Hotel for a pampering party. Stylists did our hair (I asked for Big Texas Hair, inspired by my recent trip to see family in the Lone Star State) and applied our makeup using CoverGirl products. Fellow blogger and event buddy Amber from Beauty Junkies Unite spent 3 minutes selling me on the virtues of CoverGirl NatureLuxe Silk Foundation, which gives light-yet-buildable coverage, and was created with the help of industry legend makeup artist Pat McGrath.

At the party, I hugged friend Cory Monteith and chatted with the impeccable Louise Roe, ran into several scenester Hollywood friends (always a plus to make you feel a little cooler than you actually are!), and made plans with Lauren Conrad’s excellent makeup artist Amy Nadine to interview her here on the site. Coming soon!

All in all, it was a wonderful night! Thanks to CoverGirl for the invite, and be sure to check out the new CoverGirl Facebook page, featuring incredible prizes and giveaways, such as the opportunity to dance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show or the chance to meet Taylor Swift.
