Missing Our Honeymoon in Hong Kong…

Erik and I looked at the calendar a few days ago and realized that it’s been an entire year since we went to Hong Kong for our honeymoon – how time flies! We also traveled to Australia and New Zealand, two places that are near and dear to my heart, but our time in Hong Kong was particularly magical. It’s a magical city!

The week between Christmas and New Year’s is known as WinterFest, with over-the-top light spectacles on seemingly every building and around every corner. Christmas is a big deal in Hong Kong–seriously, there are decorations, trees, and lights everywhere–but it’s really all leading up to New Year’s Eve. New York and Sydney get all the NYE love, but if you can make it to Hong Kong once in your life for a New Year’s celebration there, I urge you! Here, a few of our favorite moments from last year:

Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Miami

When I was a kid, I loved going to Miami. My grandmother had an apartment on Brickell Avenue which overlooked the water and all the other high-rise condos, and we’d go with my mother into Key Biscayne for lunch to see where they used to live. It was inevitably hot as hell, and my grandmother wouldn’t always make the most politically-correct comments–in that cringey, IDGAF-way that old people have–but being with family in the place my mother grew up felt so special.

Lo and behold, Erik is from Miami, too! Since we’re such a baby relationship (feels weird to remember that, since I feel like we’ve been with each other for decades), our trip there this summer was our first time visiting together. While planning our South Florida stay, there was one hotel he mentioned over and over: The Biltmore.

Q&A: What’s My Travel Skincare Routine?

This one’s for Danielle, who commented in my royals post last week asking for some intel on my travel skincare routine for long-haul flights:

Q: I’m going on a long-haul flight in a few months for the first time in many years. I’ve been searching for ways to protect my skin from the going nuts during the flight and also easy travel makeup tips. I’m not someone who likes going bare-faced anywhere but the gym and to bed, but I understand that my usual makeup routine may be too heavy for a 10 hour travel day. If it matters, I’ll be traveling to the South of France in November, so I’ll already be battling winter skin. I’ve been thinking of face oils or hydrating masks. Something like that. Can you tell us your routine? Or some good tips? Thanks!
