For the Costume Institute’s annual Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the 2009 theme was “The Model as Muse.”  (What does that mean?  I haven’t the foggiest.  I’m the idiot that skips conceptual art in favor of pretty flowerscapes.)  Regardless, there was some fabulous beauty and fashion on display tonight.  In another lifetime, perhaps I shall warrant an invite.  Dare to dream!

On the whole, I was underwhelmed by tonight’s SAG awards style on the red carpet.  After all, when you’ve seen one awards show, you’ve seen them all!  Where are the risks?  Where is the fresh style?  Alas.  The beautiful actresses were my personal winners:

America Ferrera: love her dark lips and nails, and softly sleek side ponytail.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’s Taraji Henson looked gorgeous; loving the face-framing hair.

While the hue of Evan Rachel Wood’s hair is slightly carrot-like, it makes her stand out and makes her pretty eyes pop.  It’s bold, different and I like it.

Claire Danes’s elegant updo recalls a young Grace Kelly, while her eye-popping dress screams Ole! A nice juxtaposition.

Kate Winslet, you get a free pass because I love you like a maniac and your blue dress is gorgeous and, frankly, you really can do no wrong.  The icy blue eyeshadow and side-slicked bangs, however, are not my all-time favorite look on you.  Pretty, but not perfect.  (I don’t care, though.  You’re still stunning.)

Tiny Fey looks so pretty with her flirty eyes, retro curls and playful cocktail dress!  Something about this coy picture calls to mind a teenybopper, however–is she channeling Miley Cyrus?
