If everybody came to play at last night’s Costume Institute Gala, the star wattage was equally impressive Sunday night at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner after-party, hosted by Vanity Fair and Bloomberg in Washington DC at the French ambassador’s house.

The country’s most powerful were there (people like chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, as well as Rupert Murdoch and Google CEO Eric Schmidt), but the party–taking place after the main-event dinner at the White House earlier in the evening–is always really just an excuse for Hollywood to shine.

Pretty people guests included Scarlett Johansson, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Simpson, Jeremy Renner, Chace Crawford, Adrian Grenier, Tony Romo and the Jonas Brothers.

You know: your normal DC crowd.

I’ve seen Ryan Reynolds out and about in Hollywood a few times–both sweaty at the gym, and all dolled up at Chateau Marmont following an event–and let me tell you: he’s gorgeous no matter how you slice it.  (Come to think of it, he’s maaaybe my top guy celeb: hilarious, sexy and mysterious.)  So, well done, Hugo Boss, for snapping him up as your latest face!

Ryan’s about to have a big year: he’ll be starring as Green Lantern, getting his own Deadpool/X-men spin off, and also had excellent reviews for his role in the indie war drama Buried.  Plus he’s married to Scarlett Johansson, my girl crush, which should be exciting enough for any man.

Yep.  We love.  Expecting the fragrance to be as hot as he is.

Our girl Scarlett Johansson is on the cover of this month’s Glamour, her locks a stunning shade of crimson.  It looks amazing!

When doing a color change this dramatic, please for the love of Joel McHale–do not attempt at home!  The rule of thumb? Color changes more than 2 shades (either lighter or darker) need to be done by a professional.

We must be especially tired (it’s been a long week–but in a good, busy way!) because when we saw this photo of our girl Scarlett Johansson at the LA Shorts Festival, we were underwhelmed.  The amber hair…the orangey-red lipstick…something is off for us.  Red lipstick is notoriously tricky, but Scarlett usually succeeds!  This time, however, Jolie is simply not feeling it.

Wanting to rock the red lipstick yourself?  Insiders consider MAC Cosmetics‘ offerings tops.  Check out MAC Russian Red (designed for Madonna’s Blonde Ambition tour, it has the slightest hint of orange…so perhaps that’s what ScarJo’s wearing here!) or MAC Ruby Woo (which has extreme blue undertones and is a favorite of Gwen Stefani).  Both are matte, so top with clear gloss for shine!

Jolie knows that her adoration for Scarlett Johansson might, at first glance, seem a bit odd.  After all, ScarJo is neither super accessible (like our girl Mandy Moore) or overly horsey (like our other obsession Kate Middleton).  She’s vampy, she’s pouty, she’s way sexy–and yet, as we’ve endlessly chronicled, we love.

Scarlett replaces Penelope Cruz in these over-the-top Mango ads, shot by Mario Sorrenti in Los Angeles.  Mango is a popular Spanish clothing chain–think H&M, Zara or Topshop–that’s all over Europe, and even has a few lonely outposts in the US.  The clothes aren’t of the highest quality, but they’re well-made for the price, and are good ways to stay on top of seasonal trends.  (Or on top of leopard print, literally, judging by the photo below.)

Longtime Jolie readers will remember the time when Scarlett and I were simultaneously in the bathroom of a Hollywood hotel, and she gave me a tampon.  (See breathlessly recounted story here.)  A few weeks ago, I was at the same hotel with the divine Lianne Farbes of The Makeup Girl and, while in the bathroom stall, I told her my tale.  When I exited the stall to wash my hands, who was standing there?  (Yeah, you know it.)  Scarlett!  I have no idea if she heard me fawning about how nice and awesome and pretty she was–Jolie’s not a stalker, Scarlett, I swear!–but it was mildly embarrassing, to say the least.

While reading The Beauty Scoop this morning (I do love me some London-based beauty news!), I saw the news that Scarlett Johansson is now schilling for Moët & Chandon.  ScarJo and champagne?  Two of my favorite glamorous things together?  Indeed!
