New Launch: BareMinerals Bare Skin Liquid Foundaton

bareMinerals Bare Skin liquid foundation

If there’s one beauty product I’ve been associated with over the years, it’s unequivocally bareMinerals. I’ve been championing them since my Lucky mag days, and have turned on countless friends, readers and viewers (I know, because you’ve all emailed me about it!). I still use bareMinerals, years after appearing in one of their infomercials, as it’s the only foundation that doesn’t make me break out while giving me the coverage I’m after.

Liquid foundation? I just can’t abide.

So, that’s why the news that bareMinerals has launched a liquid foundation called BareSkin comes as something of a shock. Apparently, it’s been kicking around for several weeks after launching on QVC, and it just debuted in Bare Escentuals stores a few days ago. I was walking through the Century City mall on Friday when the display caught my eye and I was like a cartoon character, my eyes bugging out of my head as I rubbed them confusedly.

I went in the store, played around with the foundations, got the low-down from the sales associate, and then went home and did more research. Here’s the deal:

Bare Skin is a liquid foundation, yes. However, it has a serum-like texture–it’s a combination of mineral pigments and something called coconut alkane–and is made without silicone or oils. It’s also paraben- and fragrance-free and available in 20 shades. One of the big selling features: it contains vitamin C and lilac plant stem cells, both of which help brighten your complexion. So the general idea is that you’re not only covering existing ruddiness and discoloration, but helping to prevent them in the future. It claims to have the same weightless, “no makeup” feel as the original bareMinerals, is non-comedogenic so won’t break you out, and contains titanium dioxide for SPF 20. You apply it with a specially-designed brush that’s supposed to product airbrushing-type results.

The reviews I’ve seen online have been extremely positive, and I plan on getting some for myself this week to fully test it out. I’ll let you know how it goes, and if you’ve tried it, I’m keen to hear your experience! Does it match up to the original bareMinerals? We shall see…

We have some liquid mineral foundations on our site, and I can tell you, they are the most popular of all. Really great texture with all the benefits as the originals. Fantastic indeed!
