Spotlight On: MAC Ruby Woo

Introducing new contributor Lolo Michelle!

As you might know, I’ve been in the process of interviewing contributors recently. Lolo’s application immediately stood out: she’s funny, smart, a great writer, and obsessed with beauty. For her first post, we thought it only fitting that Lolo highlight one of her all-time favorite products, the classic MAC red lipstick Ruby Woo (she’s wearing it here).

For years, I struggled with finding the perfect red lipstick. You know the one. It’s the one that doesn’t make your teeth look yellow. The one that doesn’t leave tacky lipstick marks on your glass with the slightest sip. The one that doesn’t make you look like a 5-year old who just discovered mom’s makeup case. Red lipstick after red lipstick, I took each one off almost as fast as I put each one on. I began to think that red lipstick was just not for me. Despite how badly I wanted to sport red lips on a night out on the town, I resigned myself to living vicariously through models in magazine ads.

But then I met Ruby Woo. Oh, Ruby Woo. How I love thee. Ruby Woo is MAC’s iconic matte red lipstick, also known as the answer to all of my red lipstick problems. (You thought Ruby Woo was some drag queen who performs in a hip Chinese joint, did you?) It is the most perfect, cool-toned red shade, and it makes my white teeth actually look white. With a little lip liner, there is no sign of my 5-year old mischievous self. It also stays on forever and can survive many sips, slurps, and gulps–rims on glasses everywhere are officially safe. And perhaps the best part? The memorable pick-up lines I’ve gotten while wearing Ruby Woo, such as this gem: “Wow, your lips are like, like, like…incredible foreplay.” True story. A guy in a bar actually said this to me before even saying hello.

In sum, if you need a confidence-boosting, long-lasting, incredible, amazing, and all-around perfect red lipstick, I highly recommend going out and picking up a tube of Ruby Woo.

Oh, and as to whether that pick-up line worked? My lips are sealed.

Ruby Woo is available at MAC stores and MACCosmetics.com for $16.00.

Looks fantastic on you! I think the color is a bit too bold for me to ever wear. You wear it so well, though. By the way: This post was hilarious! Great writing style.
